In 2000 Ulf Bästlein founded the music festival "Liedkunst im Schloss vor Husum" in Husum (Schleswig-Holstein) together with the pianist Charles Spencer, which he has directed ever since. Within the framework of "Liedkunst" a masterclass, a song competition and internationally perceived concerts take place.
